Bob and the gang fished the lake this weekend. the weather was more on the cloudy and cool side of spring conditions, but they did get some pretty good fishing in. It was great to see them again.
Sheep will peacefully graze...the lawn 04/12/2011
![]() Well, it is spring...and the lawn grows...and you bring in the sheep to graze it down!! Big Bluff Ranch started with Vicky's parents in 1960 (see the "about us" tab), but my family, the Dawleys, has long felt a connection to the ranch too. My mom, Mary Dawley, made the stained glass window of the ranch logo for us in the early 1990's. It is very special to look out the window at this beautiful ranch, and know how much it means to us all. Frank The eagles are nesting ! 04/08/2011
![]() This is pretty cool! If you look in the top middle of the picture, you see a pile of sticks up on a pine tree. If you are in the right spot at the right time (which I wasn't when I had the camera) you see a Bald Eagle's head...giving you the eagle eye. I would guess this nest is 1-3 years old. We feel rather silly not to have noticed it before this...but we are supposed to be looking at grass and livestock!!! We have had bald eagles visit the ranch off and on for 10-15 years, but this nest really makes it official. Those of you who have visited the lake will remember the ridge to the east (you know where the sun comes up in the morning?) of the cabana, well, if you look carefully at the skyline in the middle of the picture, that is K-1, the southernmost peak of that ridge. Only, this photo is shot about 1/2 mile due south of K-1...not clear? Well, come up and see for yourself! Here is a detail shot of the nest, Now to get some photos of the birds.
